"The Mind's Eye"

I'm looking out on this cold winter night
I see the twinkle of so many lights.
But far above those twinkling lights
I see nothing but darkness far into the night.

I think about life
And what it's brought.
It's brought pain and suffering
and so much distraught..

Then I look much further out into the sky.
I see one bright and shining star.
I stare out there long and hard.
Before I know it morning is here.

I think about life
And what is' brought.
It's brought so much more happiness
Then what I thought.

Darkness always turns to light,
So what I find is that life can be bright.
It's how we look out into the sky
As to what we see with our minds eye.
